Summary/Objective:
As Bigge’s Fleet Risk Manager, you will oversee our fleet risk management program. You will be responsible for devising and implementing key policies for our nationwide fleet. You will be the primary person for monitoring our GPS and dashcam systems and reporting results to management. As the Fleet Risk Manager, you will be expected to utilize data for risk management purposes that will improve overall fleet performance, including safety and driver performance. Occasional ride-along, on-site audits, and periodic meetings to train, coach, and encourage the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Fleet Risk Manager is also responsible for coaching and escalating coaching on videos and monitoring the day-to-day Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, and addressing all regulatory concerns with our Safety Group.
Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful Fleet Risk Manager is a proactive individual that preempts problems as well as a problem-solvers. The position promotes a positive risk mitigation/safety culture and recognizes the importance of safe behaviors and safe work practices. The ideal candidate will have experience in the field.
The position is salaried. It is an in-office position in either our Bowling Green, Kentucky, or Houston, Texas office.
What You’ll do as the Fleet Risk Manager:
- Oversee, develop, implement, and enforce Fleet Program policies.
- Monitor GPS/dashcam systems and report on Fleet driver conduct.
- Develop data analytics to identify high exposure cost/liability and repeat exposures and devise solutions that best mitigate those risks.
- Schedule and conduct periodic SOP meetings with drivers and other employees.
- Assist with fleet safety management and SOP training to mitigate risk by communicating with drivers and staff as necessary regarding accident prevention, compliance issues, and performance.
- Audit driver road performance, appearance, customer service skills, schedule compliance by field observations, etc.
- Conduct safety inspections of facilities, vehicles, and equipment and provide documentation to the appropriate supervisor.
- Ensure necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
- Conduct candidate road tests as necessary to satisfy skill set requirements.
You'll be a Great Fit if You Have:
- A bachelor’s degree with transportation experience (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Experience in administering Transportation Risk/Safety Programs.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and DOT compliance regulations.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- A construction background is a plus.
