Floor Technician Job at Lake Butler Hospital
Job Summary:
The Environmental Services Floor Technician is responsible for ensuring that the department cleans and delivers a quality service, maintains the hospital floors in a safe, sanitary, attractive, and orderly fashion. The environmental services floor tech promotes the mission of Lake Butler Hospital to maintain a safe and clean environment. The Environmental Services floor tech should also adhere to AHCA, OSHA and CMS guidelines as directed by the Director of Environmental Services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform all assigned tasks effectively, in a responsible team environment.
- Among other duties, performs routine cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and shampooing of all floors.
- Must complete assignments in a timely fashion.
- Utilizes appropriate chemicals and supplies according to the manufacturer direction, policy, and procedure.
- Uses and maintains equipment properly.
- Assist’s visitors with directions and maintains patient confidentiality.
- Report’s safety hazards as appropriate.
- Follows all infection control practices, including biohazard waste handling, hand washing techniques, and standard or isolation practices and adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintains a clean and neat cart, station, closet, and equipment storage area.
- Operates and maintains cleaning equipment.
- Maintains a quality standard while performing job duties.
- Workdays, evenings, nights, weekend shifts as assigned with little or no direct supervision.
General Duties:
- Ensures positive guest relations by demonstrating a welcoming, caring, and helpful attitude to all patients and visitors of LBH and enforces this attitude among other staff.
- Functions as an effective team member by maintaining positive intra-and interdepartmental relationships.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information in compliance with HIPAA policies
- Attends and or completes mandatory annual education to include, but not limited to infection control, safety, risk management, etc.
- Complies with hospital policies and procedures.
- Contributes to the overall success of Lake Butler Hospital by performing all other duties as assigned.
- Serves on committees as requested by Administration.
- Always presents a professional appearance and attitude.
- Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Wears identification while on duty.
Education: High school Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Public housekeeping work experience.
Skills: Basic floor care and housekeeping skills.
Knowledge: Knowledge of use of equipment and tools used for floor maintenance.
Abilities: Read, write, comprehend, and correspond simple instruction, and the ability to present information in a one on one/ or a small group situation. Ability to perform under pressure when confronted with an emergency.
OSHA Categories: Category I - Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
Physical Requirements
Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
