• Act as a back-up to QA Manager
• Oversee facility’s food safety and quality programs
• Oversee a team of up to 5 direct reports; provide ongoing coaching, training, and development of direct reports
• Set expectations, monitor performance, and hold team accountable to expectations
• Oversee facility certifications, such as, SQF, Kosher, and AOECS Gluten Free Certifications
• Act as the facility’s SQF Practitioner and lead SQF Management Review meetings
• Organize and lead facility internal/external certification and customer audits
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and warehouse departments to verify that food safety and quality standards are maintained
• Manage resolution of day-to-day facility food safety and quality incidents and provide coaching to cross functional teams when necessary
• Oversee the facility’s Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) program; lead root cause analyses, oversee corrective action implementation, and verification activities.
• Responsible for tracking and trending CAPAs, holds, and other food safety, quality, and sanitation issues to identify reoccurring non-conformances and areas for improvement
• Manage the facility’s food safety/HACCP plans, including hazard analyses, to ensure regulatory compliance
• Oversee mock recalls and traces
• Assist Crisis Management Team during product recall execution & response if necessary
• Conduct employee training on food safety and quality topics such as HACCP, Food Defense, Allergens, and GMPs
• Participate in management of facility sanitation operational performance
• Create, edit, and update food safety & quality documentation with cross-functional teams as needed
• Drive continuous improvement in facility’s food safety and quality programs and provide recommendations for food safety, quality, and sanitation processes and improvements
• Carry out managing projects with minimum supervision and complete tasks in a proficient manner.
• Comfortable working proactively and independently in a fast-paced environment
• Follows all company safety rules in performing job duties.
• The job holder might be assigned to other tasks and duties if necessary and needed

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Food Science, Biological Sciences, or related field required
• Minimum 10 years of food industry, food safety & QA experience required
• Minimum 3 years of people management experience required
• Strong knowledge of FDA regulations and application of food safety principles (ex: FSMA HACCP, GMPs, SQF, Allergens, Microbiology) required
• Experience with SQF or other GFSI schemes required
• HACCP and/or PCQI certification required
• Flexible schedule to include all 3 shifts and weekends as needed in order to support the operation required
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skill and detail oriented
• Experience reviewing and writing policies and procedures
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
