The Clinical Neuroscience Lab at Michigan State University (https://cnl.psy.msu.edu/) is seeking to hire a Research Assistant for a funded project investigating abnormal visual perception in people with schizophrenia and those at risk.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in many aspects of the study including recruiting and scheduling participants, collecting eye tracking, visual psychophysics, survey, cognitive, and interview data, organizing and analyzing study data, and manuscript preparation. In addition, this position will involve general lab management, including maintaining ethical protocols. The Research Assistant will also have plenty of opportunity to prepare scientific results for publication and presentation. Finally, there will be the opportunity to participate in a mental health outreach initiative (https://mhrc.psy.msu.edu).

There will be ample opportunity to learn novel methods in functional neuroimaging, vision science, and clinical science; accordingly, this position should be viewed as a stepping stone toward gaining entry into graduate programs in Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, or Neuroscience or medical school.

The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and capable of working independently. Individuals interested in the biological basis of mental disorders, neuropsychology and/or neuroscience, and neuroimaging are especially encouraged to apply. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field (i.e. neuroscience), previous experience working or volunteering in a research lab, experience using statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, etc.). Previous experience coding in MATLAB, Python, or similar languages and/or experience using REDCap and Qualtrics are desired, but not necessary.
