Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Graduate Education, the coordinator is responsible for academic and student affairs and other graduate program activities. The coordinator is integral in supporting admissions, programs and events, and some administrative responsibilities. The coordinator is an integral position in the office to ensure our students’ success.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of experience with direct service delivery to students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and an ability to execute multiple assignments under specific time constraints while being able to work well under pressure.
  • Must be self-motivated with a willingness to take the initiative and a problem solver.
  • Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office and Google suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision; ability to work with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff in a multi-tasking working environment.
  • Must have an excellent rapport with students and a commitment to their educational development.

Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Master’s degree in higher education or a related field.
  • Experience working in higher education, specifically at UMD, strongly preferred.

Physical Demands
This position is generally sedentary in nature. Able to operate a computer and other office equipment including printer and copy machine. Substantive repetitive movements (motions) on the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Good visual acuity to perform repetitive tasks, e.g. typing on a computer keyboard, viewing computer terminals, extensive reading. Able to maneuver around the campus to attend meetings, trainings, workshops, seminars, etc. Able to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items. Ability to walk short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
