Head of School
Position Summary: The Head of School for Trinity Academy provides effective leadership and vision that advances the school missions and goals of classical Lutheran education in an academic environment of excellence. The Head of School ensures the quality of academic programs, faculty, and students; oversees academy budgets; carries out strategic planning; and encourages, supports, and advocates for excellence in teaching.
General Duties:
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the school through the activities and programs and works with other administrators to assure the well-being and success of Trinity Academy
  • Promote school identity by cultivating an educational community that is committed to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ as it is taught and confessed in the inspired sacred Scriptures and exposited in the confessional writings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with the Seward and Concordia communities
  • Recruit new students by working with local school boards to promote Trinity Academy and to meet recruitment goals
  • Teach assigned subject areas (this will vary according to expertise)
  • Develop curriculum by evaluating classical curricula, teaching methods, and programs to determine their effectiveness, efficiency, and use, and to ensure compliance with Trinity Academy’s accreditation from the Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education.
  • Develop and implement school operations by arranging necessary educational accommodations for students; conferring with parents, the school board, and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and practices pertinent to student behavior or learning problems; enforcing discipline and attendance rules.
  • Lead a team by collaborating with other full-time and part-time teachers to develop and maintain curriculum standards, develop mission statements, and set performance goals and objectives. Direct and coordinate activities of teachers, administrators, and support staff
  • Develop objectives and strategies by establishing long-range objectives in accordance with the mission and vision of Trinity Academy and specify the strategies and actions to achieve them
  • Document and record information by entering, transcribing, recording, storing, and maintaining information in written or electronic forms. Articulate a clear vision for the academy and provide compelling leadership to realize the vision
  • Promote a positive work environment for staff, faculty, and students
  • Promote and expand external relationships for the academy
  • Encourages creativity, innovation, scholarship, and interaction among faculty
  • Other duties as required by the school board
Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • Established record of excellence as a teacher, pastor, or school administrator
  • Academic leadership and management experience
  • Enthusiasm for classical and Lutheran education that can be effectively conveyed in public
  • Active member of a congregation of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, or a church in altar and pulpit fellowship with LCMS (“partner churches”)
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of Trinity Academy and Concordia University, Nebraska
  • Proven record of integrity with a passion for academic excellence
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Collaborative and entrepreneurial leadership style that emphasizes openness, consultation and transparent decision making
