The Cambridge Health Alliance’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Program is a multi-grant funded program that provides clinical, education, and outreach services to clients at CHA health centers and in the surrounding communities. Education services include comprehensive reproductive and sexual health education and youth development programs in local school systems, and outreach in CHA communities. While the primary audience for this position is adolescents, services are also available to adults, community organizations, and professionals. This mission of the program is to better the reproductive and sexual health outcomes of our communities. Our vision is for all to have unbiased and equitable access to reproductive and sexual health services. The three main priorities of the program include helping clients to make empowered choices by providing access to sex positive health services through counseling and education, advocating for reproductive and sexual health rights for everyone, and being a trusted resource in our communities. In order to achieve these priorities, we maintain high quality work, timeliness, collaborative teamwork, supportive communication, strong leadership and passionate advocacy.
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Manager of Youth Programs the CHE I provides reproductive and sexual health education and services to youth and adults in Everett, MA under the program grant requirements with the mission to improve the sexual and reproductive health of our communities. Essential job functions are focused on quality, timeliness, teamwork, positive and supportive communication, risk taking, and advocacy.
Position is 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year and is dependent upon continued availability of grant funding.
Essential job duties include:
Provides health education that is culturally and developmentally appropriate and comprehensive to junior high and high school students, primarily. Education is offered not only to mainstream academic classes and programs but to the bilingual, vocational, special education and alternative high school programs as well.
Offers out of school time programs and occasional evening and weekend health education and youth development programs and support groups to adults and professionals.
Performs all aspects of health education/counseling according to Title X and Massachusetts Department of Public Health Family Planning Program standards.
Coordinates educational activities with school administrators, leadership, and other relevant individuals.
Implements education evaluation. Develops education materials as applicable.
Assists students in exploring feelings and concerns about sexuality, pregnancy and other lifestyle needs in a safe environment. Assists students in making informed decisions by providing factual information, both oral and written, and helping clarify values and priorities.
Links students and providers with necessary school and community resources and agencies.
Participates in outreach activities for the program as appropriate. Develops outreach and in-reach materials to promote services.
Attends site meetings, program staff meetings, trainings, and supervision meetings as appropriate. Participates in school or community committees as appropriate. Facilitates meetings when appropriate.
Submits accurate monthly staff reports and other requested data in a consistent and timely manner.
Provides coverage to other sites as requested and available.
Maintains competencies in the field of sexual and reproductive health.
Integrates growth and development needs into the delivery of patient care for the populations served.
Uses communication methods appropriate for the client developmental stage.
Identifies and manages any special issues, concerns and risks for age specific populations.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to relate well to a diverse patient population, other staff members, and the general public.
Sensitivity to reproductive and sexual health issues
Nonjudgmental attitude
High level of self-awareness and an interest in gaining self-knowledge
An interest in learning and improving facilitation skills

Qualifications and required experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, though relevant experience is valued highly
1-2 years of relevant work experience in the field (or adjacent field) preferred
Knowledge of and/or experience with youth programming and/or program facilitation required
Knowledge of sexual health education desirable
Knowledge of additional language(s) preferred (Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian Creole) but not required
Demonstrated ability to work with people of different races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ages, abilities, and experiences
Must have access to reliable transportation to/from Everett and surrounding communities
