***THIS IS A TIME-LIMITIED, FULL-TIME POSITION***
This position is located in the HIV/STD Surveillance Unit of the Communicable Disease Branch, a subordinate agency of the Epidemiology Section of the Division of Public Health. The person in this role leads the evaluation of hepatitis B and C surveillance data and systems, assists in writing CDC grant progress reports, and authors regular reports and fact sheets for internal and public use. They respond to requests for epidemiologic analyses and provide technical assistance to community-based organizations and local health department staff and work closely with DPH colleagues to understand and control viral hepatitis.

The Communicable Disease Branch of the Division of Public Health primarily deals with infectious diseases that are reportable by law to the state health department, as well as a few other communicable diseases of public health significance, such as influenza, norovirus infection and certain healthcare-associated infections.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following:
Understanding of epidemiologic principles, via classroom or work experience.- Experience with data analysis in SAS.
- Experience with data manipulation in Excel, SAS, or other data-management software.
- Masters in Public Health.
- Experience in a public health setting.
- More than one year of data analysis using SAS.
- Experience with communicating data analysis results via reports, other printed products such as fact sheets, or in person presentations.
- Experience with NC EDSS.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master's degree in Epidemiology or closely related health field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of related experience;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
