Queen Kapiolani Hotel is currently in search of full-time Housekeeper I to join our team.
In 1967, the Hotel was built on royal lands overlooking Kapiolani Park, the State’s greatest park, which is named after the Queen herself; for decades, the Hotel was the favored place where locals and guests gathered for brunch, dinner, weddings, and graduations; its location at the beach was perfect for kama’aina surfing, and its art collection and music programming rivaled that of any hotel in Honolulu.
Queen Kapiolani Hotel has 315 rooms with unobstructed views of Diamond Head and is only steps away from Waikiki beach.
Housekeeper I
Position Purpose
Performs routine duties required in the servicing and cleaning of all guest rooms and hotel facilities. May perform other related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Clean and make-up guest rooms
Replenish guest rooms
Empty soiled linens
Restock and maintain trolley on daily basis
Maintain a neat and organized closet and cart
Report lost and damaged items
Document and turn in items left by guests
Vacuum rooms and corridors
Change and replenish bed linen, towels and guest amenities in line with company guidelines
Undertake regular deep cleaning tasks
Be environmentally aware
Dispose of waste accordingly
Manage guest requests in a timely and efficient manner
Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation
Carry out lost property procedures
Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships
Ensures cleanliness of public areas including hallways, elevators, vending rooms and service areas.
Inventory and maintain cleanliness of store rooms. Stocks linen in service closets.
Delivers and removes guest requested items such as rollaway or air mattress.
Notifies supervisor of any guest room issues including maintenance and security needs.
Provide exceptional guest service at all times, handling all guest complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner; feedbacks
guest complaints to manager promptly
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
A thorough knowledge of Housekeeping operations and procedures.
Must have availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays
Requires strong command of the English language
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Previous hotel and/or cleaning experience preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge of stain removal and chemical cleaning agents, and operation of different types of equipment.
Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
Ability to learn and apply hazardous chemical training standards during new hire introductory period.
Basic ability to comprehend the English language sufficient to understand and communicate information for reasons such as safety and security; for example product safety labels and emergency instructions.
Must be able to multi-task
Professional appearance and attitude.
Well organized and attentive to detail.
Willing to cooperate with and assist others.
Ability to multi-task a variety of functions concurrently.
Good vision and hearing, either natural or with corrective equipment
Must be able to bend, stoop, and squat
Ability to lift, pull and push moderate weight (minimum 40 pounds) regularly
Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
A true desire to satisfy the needs of others
