Wages:

  • Base Rate - $13.00 - $16.41 per hour based on experience
  • Additional $2.00 per hour for shift differential

JOB DESCRIPTON

JOB TITLE: Housekeeping

REPORTS TO: Facility Services Director

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain cleanliness in resident rooms and common areas
  • Sweep, vacuum and mop floors on a daily basis
  • Dust, wash walls, baseboards, and hand rails
  • Wash windows, inside and out, at least twice a year and as needed
  • Empty trash container daily and wash trash container weekly
  • Restock paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, hand soap, and hand sanitizer as needed
  • Clean bathrooms, including toilet, sink, showers, and mirrors
  • Lime and rust removal of faucets and toilets as needed
  • Clean furniture in resident rooms and common areas as needed
  • Clean lights and floor/ceiling vents
  • All other duties as assigned

Equipment and Supply Functions:

  • Stock and maintain cleanliness of cleaning cart each shift
  • Report all accidents/incidents you observe on the shift as they occur.
  • Follow all established safety procedure and precautions for use of cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Follow established regulations governing the use of labels and MSDSs for hazardous chemicals within the department.
  • Follow established ergonomics policies and procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment and supplies to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Watch for and report any change in room temperature, ventilation, lighting, etc.
  • Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions to your supervisor immediately.
  • Other(s) that may become necessary / appropriate to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
  • Request repairs for cleaning equipment as necessary.
  • Monitor stock of cleaning supplies and notify supervisor when low

Resident Rights:

  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Assure that the residents rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times.

Personal Functions:

  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors.
  • Follow work assignments and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that facility services can be adequately maintained to maintain the cleanliness of the facility.
  • Report all complaints and grievances made by residents.
  • At least one hour prior to start time, notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work.

Safety and Sanitation:

  • Follow all established safety procedure and precautions when operating office equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Follow established regulations governing the use of labels and MSDSs for hazardous chemicals within the department.
  • Follow established ergonomics policies and procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment and supplies to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions to your supervisor immediately.
  • Other(s) that may become necessary/appropriate to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works throughout the facility (i.e. residents rooms, dining rooms, hallways, offices etc.).
  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Communicates with facility services personnel and other department personnel.
  • Attends mandatory in-services and daily huddles
  • Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  • Is subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • A high school education or equivalent is desired.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must posses the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the work place.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

(With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
