Mercy Human Resources is actively seeking a full-time Human Resources Assistant to join our team! Pay Range: $19.34-$28.16 per hour

Your starting hourly wage will be directly based upon years of relevant experience to the position. We will give you full credit for each year of past experience you have.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Assistant is essential to the daily operation and flow of the Human Resources office. It is a forward facing, high customer contact position that assists visitors in the office, over the phone, email, etc. The HR Assistant also collaborates with all HR team members on HR initiatives, projects, and fulfilling customer needs.

Job Duties

  • Demonstrates compassion, integrity, excellence, and all other values of Mercy Iowa City with those served in the Human Resources office.

  • Serves as the first point of contact for all visitors in Human Resources. Answers basic questions relative to HR best practices, policies, benefits, hiring process, etc.; refers more complex questions to HR team members.

  • Collaborates daily with other HR team members and participates in the planning and execution of HR initiatives and projects.

  • Maintains accuracy and integrity of human resources files, records, and documentation. Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.

  • Assists with data entry and transactions in the Human Resources Information System (UKG).

  • Assists with the coordination, setup, and scheduling of new hire orientation.

  • Composes a variety of HR related correspondence, reports, and presentation.

  • Attends department and organizational meetings.

  • Demonstrates consistent and regular attendance and present for work on time as scheduled.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree and an internship in HR or a related field -or-
  • Associates degree and at least 2 years of experience with human resources related work -or-
  • High school diploma and at least 4 years of experience with human resources related work.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Demonstrates basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrates a high level of initiate, motivation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.
  • Demonstrates compassion and is comfortable interacting with visitors in a high traffic office environment.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and resilience when interruptions occur.
