The LADCFS UCLA Academy Workforce Excellence is a collaborative endeavor between the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the graduate programs of social work at University of California Los Angeles, California State University Long Beach,
University of Southern California, California State University Los Angeles, California State University Northridge, California State University Dominguez
Hills, and Azusa Pacific University.
The overall goal of this collaborative project is to increase the professional skills and knowledge of the Los Angeles County public child welfare workers. Through the training center, this training project provides in-service training to newly hired social workers, case carrying social workers, case management personnel, management staff, community partners, and specialized pre-service for MSW students.
The IT Support Engineer provides support for the computer systems at both on campus and off campus training facilities; and staff housed or working at training sites and venues. The IT Support Engineer acts as an IT administrator and provides direct support for network workstations to function at required levels.
The IT Support Engineer provides technical and operational support for development, maintenance, and testing of software, hardware, and computer systems. Responsibilities include training on the use of computers and supporting users at training and events.

High level of skill in communicating (verbal/written) clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary, grammar and tone to obtain and convey information to individuals at all levels of the organization, and to provide services effectively to users with a wide range of computer literacy.
Required
Skill in working either independently or as a member of well functioning team, following through on assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Required
Detailed knowledge of and experience with the installation and maintenance of Microsoft and Apple hardware / software.
Required
Working knowledge of back-up solutions, hard drive array sub-systems, network client configuration, networking equipment including routers, bridges, and hubs.).
Required
Detailed knowledge of campus policies and standards with regard to computer networks including naming conventions, data interchange, network software site licenses, cabling policies including fire safety codes, security, network access standards (on and off campus), networking traffic issues.
Required
Working knowledge of network architecture and their various implementations; knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and routing.

Ability to work effectively in supporting both casual and expert computer users.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Mac OX & Linux; Server & Desktop platforms.

Demonstrated ability to learn new technology quickly.
