Position: Junior High Art Teacher

Job Summary:

The Junior High Art Teacher provides services as an employee of STAFFEZ serving the district of Fayette County Public Schools. The responsibilities of a junior high art educator are to be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines; to develop aesthetic understanding and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art.

Starting Date: Immediate Until Filled

Work Year, Hours & Compensation: Hours vary depending on assignment. Pay per hour depending on qualifications and experience. 175 days per year

FSLA: Non-Exempt

Essential Job Functions (note this not an exhaustive list of duties performed for this position):

• Represent the District and STAFFEZ in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
• Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in a positive supportive, and cooperative way.
• Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required, or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position.
• Provide an instruction program that is differentiated.
• Commitment to high student achievement & support for all students.
• Knowledge of the subject matter being taught.
• Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history and organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss.
• Create a secure classroom climate and respond to inquiries from a variety of sources.
• Knows and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art.
• Understand a variety of “masters” techniques.
• Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
• Knows the fundamentals and different approaches to drawing media techniques.
• Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
• Plan, develop, implement, and monitor student success as your goal.
• Use available technology in your lessons.

• Communicate effectively with parents and students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.

Qualifications:

• Completion of the required Global Compliance Network online training modules
• Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
• Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communications.
• Must meet criminal history background requirements (requires FBI Fingerprint and SOARS clearance).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education
• Holding appropriate Tennessee certification license
• Demonstrated organizational skills
• Effective decision-making and verbal and written communication skills
• Be Highly Qualified in this area

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
• Occasional climbing of steps
• Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
• Potential supervision of students outside in all types of weather.
• Depending on assignment, may involve more physical activity, e.g., Physical Education classes, pre-school, or special education assignments.
