Lighthouse Behavioral Health Solutions (Lighthouse) provides individual, outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential, psychiatric services, and medication assisted treatment for mental health and substance abuse treatment needs.

Our programs and services are dedicated to adults struggling to cope with alcohol and/or drug addiction and mental health challenges brought about by difficult life experiences on an outpatient basis.

Job Summary
Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Attempts to exceed the expectations and needs of the clients. Treats others with dignity, respect and compassion at all times. Provide excellent customer service to all clients, coworkers, and others
• Conduct observed and unobserved urine sample collection for Clients
• Complete point of care testing using CLIA waived devices
• Responsible for specimen handling (accessioning, labeling and aliquoting), while maintaining specimen integrity and sample identification
• Follow appropriate Infection prevention procedures, utilize PPE, follow restrictions in contaminated areas
• Always maintain HIPAA compliance, manage sensitive information appropriately and maintain the dignity and privacy of the clients
• Utilize the Laboratory Information System to accession and receive samples as well as access client reports.
• Access the client electronic medical record to enter lab results into the Client chart
• Alert clinical and medical staff to abnormal lab results according to policy.
• Enter billing data into the client chart according to policy
• Appropriately dispose of chemical and biological waste in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements
• Complete required daily and monthly lab maintenance logs and checklists.
• Monitor inventory levels, place appropriate orders for supplies and always maintain par levels.
• Provide reception duties such as answering the phones, directing clients for some locations
• Transport samples to the main lab for testing and ensure samples are transported timely
• Monitor emails, Teams and other platforms and communicate appropriately
• Other duties as assigned

Lab Assistant Requirements and Qualifications

• Possesses superb written and spoken communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with clients, colleagues, and community resources
• Excellent time management skills; organized and able to prioritize
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Calm and cool-headed with a positive attitude
• Self-directed and self-motivated
• Comfortable with building personal relationships and dedicated to helping others

Qualifications and Skills:
Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of experience working in a laboratory
• Valid driver's license
• Must be willing to obtain this CMS certification upon hire (Lighthouse will provide assistance)
• Basic computer skills
• Require that candidates pass a Color Vision test and have the visual acuity to read the results on CLIA waived test devices

Preferred:

• 2 or more years’ experience working in a laboratory

Lighthouse is certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (for Mental Health & Substance Abuse).
