Basic Job Functions:

West Virginia Nucor Steel is seeking applicants for the position of Laboratory and Surface Inspection Supervisor. The role of the Laboratory and Surface Inspection Supervisor includes, but is not limited to the following establishing a culture of safety awareness, team development, quality production, and continuous improvement. Leading the design, construction, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the division laboratories and the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the surface inspection units. Ensuring safe, prompt, and accurate testing of our product to ensure it meets our customers’ demands. Championing quality inspection improvements throughout the entire division. Assisting operators and metallurgists in identification, disposition of defective material, and assisting in claims investigations.

Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor's new sheet mill with advanced steelmaking capabilities. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational in 2025. The new steel mill will employ 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV. This is a full-time position located at our offices in Mason County, WV.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.S. Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or equivalent engineering degree.
• 5 years of steel metallurgy experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with automated surface inspection systems.
• Experience with supervising laboratory functions
