Make your mark in public service. As an accredited public health department, we're seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Laboratory Supply/Warehouse Clerk to join the Division of Medical/Clinical Services, Public Health Laboratory located in Decatur, GA.

This is a Federal grant-funded position.
Under broad supervision, receives, stores and issues materials, equipment and other items. Performs manual and clerical tasks involved in the distribution of supplies and materials.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Receives clinical laboratory specimens via US Mail, UPS, FED-EX and Couriers
- Assists in maintaining purchase order filing system.
- Receives supplies, and laboratory equipment from Purchase Orders
- Delivers Purchase Orders, and specimens to Lab Units
- Receives and counts items and records data manually or using a computer
- Sorts and delivers US Mail and internal mail
- Process outgoing mail.
- Process outgoing shipments , using UPS and Fed-Ex
- Drive company van to various location for pick-up and drop-off
- Assists with unpacking stock items to be stored in warehouse
- Stores items in an order and accessible manner in warehouse, supply rooms or other areas
- Verifies inventory by comparing to physical counts of stock.
- Assist with delivering/relocating laboratory equipment.
Vocational/Technical degree from an accredited college AND One year of experience in shipping and receiving
OR
High school diploma or GED AND Two years of experience in shipping and receiving
OR
One year of experience at the lower level Supply Warehouse Clerk 2 (FES011) or position equivalent.
Note: This position require possession of valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years experience in a Warehouse setting.
- 2+ years experience in Shipping & Receiving
- Ability to multitask in an environment with shifting priorities
- Proficient in MS Office Suite including, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Courier experience including vehicle maintenance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment on concrete flooring and in varying temperatures.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment as needed
- Ability to bend, stoop and twist as needed
- Ability to safely lift, push, pull and maneuver up to 50 pounds of materials, supplies and equipment as needed.
Category 2: Moderate to heavy physical activity and consistent exposure to working conditions that may interact with an employee's medical or fitness condition. Physical activity may involve heavy lifting, pushing or pulling; extended climbing, crawling or bending; and/or operation of potentially dangerous equipment (including motor vehicles).

All approved teleworking employees must reside within the state of Georgia and depending on the responsibilities of the position, must live within reasonable driving distance of the agency’s primary worksite and be able to report to the office when required.
Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
