The Settlement Home's mission is to promote healing and growth in children, young adults, and families by providing a continuum of care, support, and resources. We serve individuals with histories of severe trauma, abuse, and neglect.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities

● Overall maintenance of campus and buildings.

● Maintenance of agency vehicles and appropriate records regarding maintenance.

● Clean air conditioning/heating filters monthly.

● Maintain and program building thermostats as needed.

● Ensure that fire extinguishers and smoke alarms are always functional.

● Assure that all Licensing requirements regarding maintenance and safety are met.

● Painting of inside or outside of buildings as needed.

● Maintain cleanliness of all maintenance areas.

● Transport donations to garage sale warehouse.

● Distribution of cleaning supplies to cottages.

● Other duties as assigned by the Facility Manager

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Ability to work effectively with staff members.

· Ability to use and benefit from supervision.

· Ability to organize time and materials effectively.

· Ability to anticipate and analyze maintenance needs.

· Awareness of environmental safety needs.

· Ability to carry out all maintenance responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

● High school diploma/equivalent.

● Minimum of one year of experience preferred.

● Skill in a variety of maintenance tasks to include heating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, minor construction, painting, basic lawn care.

● Must be at least 21 years old.

● Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and TB testing.

● Must have a valid Texas Drivers License and a driving record with no more than 3 violations in a 3 year period.

Preferred Qualifications and Education

· 1 year apprenticeship in maintenance work or other related training.

Essential Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Must be able to lift and/or exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently. Position frequently involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, reaching, kneeling, crouching crawling, speaking and repetitive motion. Position may occasionally involve reaching, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
