Expected salary range of $140,400 to $156,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Operations DBA Manager will be responsible for managing the database administration team and ensuring that all company databases and related processes are secure, efficient, and operational. They will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to maintain and improve the company's database systems while adhering to industry best practices. The Operations DBA Manager will also oversee implementation, operational transition, and ultimately care and maintenance of databases to meet the business needs of the organization. The Operations DBA Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the stability and scalability of the company's database infrastructure. SECONDARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The second purpose will be the management of desktop mobility and support teams which will entail three team members.



PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage a team of employee and contractor database administrators to ensure the smooth running of all company databases.
  • Develop and implement strategies for maintaining and improving database systems, including disaster recovery and security protocols.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of databases to meet the business needs of the organization.
  • Oversee monitoring to ensure timely detection, response and resolution of issues involving database systems.
  • Ensure database performance monitoring is effective, with database metrics analysis and implementation of tuning solutions.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Work with peer Project/Engineering DBA managers who are responsible for the development, implementation and transitional readiness of databases for new applications or DB technology projects being implemented.
  • Participate in planning and execution of database migrations and upgrades.
  • Provide higher-level technical guidance and support to other teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to database administration.
  • Keep up-to-date with new database technologies and industry trends.

JOB SCOPE

  • Total Staff Managed: 5 to 20
  • Utilize understanding of customer's business needs to determine requirements and help set direction.
  • Determine and helps others learn appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate to their skill set portfolio and related sciences and disciplines.
  • Make judicious decisions in familiar and new situations and contributes to strategic decisions.
  • Represent business client's perspective with IT team
  • Dimensions: Span of control (generally 10), level of budget control, technical/business complexity, risk, criticality of assignment to business
  • Budget Management specific to area of accountability.
  • Operate independently with little or no supervision.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 8 to 10 years experience in database administration or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, including at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Solid understanding of database design, administration, and security principles.
  • Proficiency in SQL and database management systems, with a focus on SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS.
  • Experience in disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Familiarity with cloud database platforms such as Microsoft Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience leading and managing technical personnel.
  • Strong judgment and excellent analytical ability.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and business management and with vendors.
  • Experience managing budgets for functional area of responsibility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree.
  • Project Management certification.
