Summary
Provide sales leadership, motivation and direction for assigned branches/market with emphasis on lending, deposit acquisition, and non-interest income generation for consumer and small business segments. Proactively initiate, develop, and manage long-term, profitable relationships with consumer and small business clients. Deliver superior quality service in person or by phone such that client needs are met on a consistent, positive basis. Provide general supervision of market branches with focus on sales efforts. Encourage the branch staff to meet the sales goals and referral goals for the location.
Credit Culture – Lending Division
The Board of Directors has established the following credit culture, which is fully supported by management. Wayne Savings Community Bank (the Bank) will provide loan products to all credit worthy customers without discrimination who have ties to the general lending area we serve. All loans will be for lawful purposes utilizing a loan structure that is in alignment with established policies procedures and bank risk appetite. Compliance with all applicable laws, policies and procedures, and regulations is mandatory and unethical or deceptive lending practices will not be tolerated.
Management will strive to cultivate a banking relationship with all our customers to provide for all of their financial needs. The primary source of repayment for all loans (with limited exceptions) should be derived from the borrower’s income. While collateral is generally viewed as a secondary source of repayment, the Bank believes all loans should be adequately protected with assets. The exception would be to financially strong borrowers who warrant unsecured credit. The Bank is generally conservative in its underwriting practices but will on a case-by-case basis approve riskier loans; however, the increased risk must be reflected in the loan structure, rate and fees. While all loan types will be considered, we currently do not entertain labor intensive loan products, such as, asset-based credit facilities requiring additional monitoring via a borrowing base, inventory floorplan lines of credit or indirect loans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Customer Service:
- Drives and models the highest level of customer service
- Holds the team accountable to deliver the highest levels of customer service while considering/maintaining the Bank’s reputation within the community.
- Effectively handles highly complex inquiries/issues with customers/ employees escalating issues by analyzing potential outcomes before making decisions with minimal to no assistance.
- Proactively identifies barriers and takes responsibility to follow through with solutions offered.
- Handles difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Completes all assigned training by the deadline.
Sales and Sales Management:
- Engages in an active partnership with other lines of business within the bank i.e., Consumer Lending, Commercial Lending, H.S.A. / Wealth Management, Deposit Services including business online banking and merchant services.
- Proactively suggests products/ services that add value to customers and models behavior for the Team.
- Encourages and supports assigned branches to achieve production goals.
- Actively participates in various outbound calling activities.
- Ability to handle consumer lending from origination to signing.
- Demonstrates acumen in sales, customer service relationship management, banking, investments, consumer lending, business banking, business lending, communication, and presentation.
Business Development:
- Identify market needs and provide direction for assigned branches to address those needs. (e.g. community involvement, enhanced customer service).
- Active participation in community events; develops and maintains local centers of influence.
- Actively participates in outbound calling activities to local businesses and COI’s with little or no assistance.
- Develop and grow customer relationships through internal and external sales initiatives and prospecting daily.
- Actively provides qualified referrals to Commercial Business Banking Officers.
- Documents production and goal attainment
- Develop and plan objectives for a specific group of retail branches in relation to loan and deposit production, fee generation, service, and operations.
Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lead one or more Office Managers in their roles operating respective branches. Develop sales and relationship building skills in staff to achieve bank goals.
Qualifications

Education:
College Degree plus 5-7 years in banking/financial services with a strong sales and relationship emphasis. Masterful in the sales process, leading high producing sales teams, achieving various goals and professional involvement in market/community.
Work Experience:
3 years’ experience in a customer service environment establishing customer relationships and producing sales. Requires advanced interpersonal/communication skills to anticipate customer needs, diffuse problem situations, and regularly motivate, influence and lead others to deliver customer service and sales excellence.
Licensing:
Notary required.
Required to obtain registration with NMLS
