Summus Healthcare is adding a reliable Medical Assistant to our specialty clinic in Flower Mound, TX. You’ll be responsible for welcoming patients, scheduling appointments, and working closely with our healthcare staff to take patient histories, collect test samples, and help with examinations. Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Compensation:

$17 - $20 hourly

Responsibilities:

  • Record patient vital signs, including body temperature, respiration rate, blood pressure, and pulse, and add the information to their chart
  • Talk with the patient about the reason for their visit and record their personal information and medical history to share with the healthcare staff
  • Make sure examination rooms are ready for patients by ensuring they’re well-stocked and at a comfortable temperature and that all equipment is sterilized
  • Welcome patients to the office, take telephone calls, schedule appointments, and answer questions about treatment or prescription refills to ensure an excellent patient experience
  • Fill out the appropriate insurance forms and document patient appointments, listing all symptoms, test results, diagnoses, treatment instructions, and prescriptions on the patient records
  • Obtain blood samples from patients and sent them to the laboratory for testing following directions from supervising staff

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to use a computer to complete administrative tasks
  • Prior experience in a medical assisting role performing administrative duties or a similar position in a healthcare work environment is preferred
  • Strong communication skills and customer service skills
