Mandatory Requirements:
Degree: Bachelor's degree.- Education: Graduate from a medical technology program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT).
- Certification: Current certification/registration as determined by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT
- Experience: One year of experience required
- 2 references (name, phone, email) provided during credentialing process. We would email them a form to fill out during credentialing. 1 peer and 1 supervisor
Medical laboratory Technologist (Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) Blood Bank) – Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0500 and 2400 hours. Shifts can vary from day to day.
Normal shifts are Mon – Fri 6am-2:30pm. 1 Sat per month 5am-5pm but hours do fluctuate. No more than 80hrs per two weeks.
Services may be required on Saturdays and/or Sundays. (1 Saturday per month is the norm)
In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of eighty (80) hours per two-week period.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
Medical Lab Technologist
Core Duties:
- Perform a full range of automated and non-automated laboratory procedures in the areas of chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, serology, bacteriology, and immunohematology according to established protocols.
- Determine the suitability of specimens for analysis. Prepare specimens for analysis and ensure that the physiologic state of the properties is maintained.
- Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary. Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain instruments. Verify correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks. Identify the cause of common problems and make simple repairs.
- Recognize and react to indicators of malfunction. Locate and implement corrections. Obtain analytical data, convert to a prescribed unit of reporting, as necessary, and correlate data to verify results.
- Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents and products and maintain proper records for quality control and quality assurance reports.
