NIGHT SHIFT OPERATIONS MANANGER

SCOPE:

The Night Shift Operations Manager is responsible for overall night shift production across the Dayton facility, across HVAC, PTC and Injection Molding divisions. Responsible for work assignments of Operations, Engineering, Logistics, Maintenance and Quality supervisors, meeting the customer’s quality and delivery requirements, working closely with the Technical Engineering support teams for current production and future business.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide leadership on night shift across all fractals by managing employees across all divisions. This includes interviewing, hiring, training and mentoring, as well as providing input on both performance appraisals and disciplinary action.
  • Promote awareness and provide direction to employees to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure elimination/reduction of workplace lost time accidents and incidents, while ensuring consistency and compliance to plant policy and safety procedures.
  • Prioritize awareness and provide direction to employees for process optimization and continuous improvement. (P.P.M., First pass yield and scrap).
  • Ensure customer expectations for product quality are met or exceeded.
  • Track and maintain maximum utilization of all allocated resources including personnel, equipment, material, and other expenses.
  • Adhere to established annual goals including continuous improvement of all key production figures.
  • Manage facility-wide night shift production activities and activities including the continuous improvement of all changeovers.
  • Organize the workforce through proper distribution to ensure that production objectives and customer demands are being met.
  • Build a safe, improvement-focused operation, through a workforce empowered by comprehensive training, effective communications, clear operating goals, and recognitions for achievement.
  • Responsible for night shift OEE.
  • Recommend personnel changes within area of responsibility, i.e. promotions, transfers, demotions, terminations, shift changes, additions, and performance/wage adjustment issues.
  • Strong, metric driven personality and methodology, and must drive the business for continual improvement of key performance indicators.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Engineering or Management.
  • 5 years of automotive leadership experience is required.
  • 5 years of production experience is required.
  • 5 years of management experience is required.
  • 2+ years of Continuous Improvement experience is strongly preferred.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt Certification is preferred.
  • Proven understanding & successful application of production systems.
  • Proven leadership success over a variety of functional areas.
  • Proven & effective facilitation, leadership, mentoring, and training skills.
  • Ability to provide decisive leadership and team facilitation in the face of adversity - define tasks clearly, identify and coordinate resources, and execute a go-forward plan.
  • Ability to define goals, metrics, and levels of success for internal customers.
  • Proven execution of change management within an organization.
