The Applications & Technology division in the Department of Accounts (DOA) is seeking a qualified individual for an Oracle Database Administrator position.
DOA’s mission is to provide a uniform system of accounting, financial reporting, and internal control adequate to protect and account for the Commonwealth’s financial resources, while supporting and enhancing the recognition of Virginia as the best managed state in the union.
Job Duties
The Oracle Database Administrator designs and implements databases supporting the Financials, Human Capital Management, and Business Intelligence areas of the Cardinal Program hosted on Exadata platform in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The DBA installs, administers, and supports databases, completes performance tuning, and performs backup and recovery and configuration management. The DBA serves as a member of a three person on call rotation and is expected to provide off hours and weekend support when on call. During deployment exercises, shift work may be required during non-business hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Extensive experience supporting and managing multiple Oracle Databases on Linux in a complex environment. Extensive experience authoring and supporting Linux shell scripts. Considerable experience with Oracle Security Architecture and Recovery including the use of Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM). Considerable experience troubleshooting complex Database Management System (DBMS) problems.
Considerable experience creating performance tuning enhancements. Experience designing, modeling, and implementing large database systems. Experience authoring PL/SQL and Structured Query Language (SQL) commands and scripts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, engineering, or related discipline preferred.
Oracle Database Certifications preferred.
Experience using Oracle DataGuard for Disaster Recovery and other purposes preferred.
Experience supporting Oracle PeopleSoft HCM and/or Finance databases preferred.
Experience successfully explaining technical information to non-technical audiences preferred.
