Outreach and Recruitment Specialist
SALARY: $51,169.50 - $56,297.85
LOCATION: Lynnwood, Washington
DESCRIPTION:
The Outreach and Recruitment Specialist at Edmonds College is responsible for representing the college in the community for the purposes of recruiting new students, networking with high schools and community partners to attract a diverse student body, and assisting in meeting the college’s enrollment goals. Under the general direction of the Director of Outreach, this position participates in the planning, developing, and implementing of student recruitment and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Represent the college at high schools, college and career fairs, and community events (virtual or in-person) to provide and present information about the benefits of Edmonds College degrees, certificates, and programs.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with community partners and K-12 educational partners.
- Collaborate with all members of the Outreach Team to foster relationships within the community for the recruitment of high school and adult populations.
- Plan, develop, and implement campus recruitment-related promotional events as directed by the Director of Outreach.
- Collaborate with the Student Services team, Communications and Marketing team, and program faculty to develop outreach and recruitment strategies, tactics, and processes in support of or in addition to the college recruitment plan.
- Build on current outreach efforts to design creative and innovative ways to recruit and outreach to prospective students.
- Lead weekly campus tours as needed.
- Maintain relationships with prospective students through our customer relationship management system (CRM) to follow up with prospective students to facilitate enrollment through identified communication plans.
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders and their programs to identify, plan, and implement a cyclical schedule of outreach and recruitment activities including meeting and working with specific industries, businesses, professional groups, local schools, and community-based organizations.
- Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team to develop print, digital, and social media communications for targeted groups of prospective students.
- Plan events/visits (in-person or virtual) with local school districts.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community groups, agencies, and businesses that offer opportunities for referrals/recruitment and work with other campus representatives to facilitate referrals/recruitment.
- Assist in training and mentoring student workers.
- Attend, participate, and be a member of the Enrollment & Student Services Division and other committees as assigned.
- Respond to prospective student inquiries that are received through the college’s website, email, texting and office phone.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of college programs, processes, and services in order to effectively guide prospective students through the admission/entry process.
- Determine swag/marketing materials needed to promote the college.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
This is an exempt position that reports to the Director of Outreach.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of experience in customer service, outreach, recruiting, admissions, advising, marketing, sales, or public and/or community relations.
- Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop and deliver effective public presentations (in-person and virtual).
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using a customer relationship management (CRM) system to communicate with prospective students and track actions and results.
- Bilingual skills are a plus, preferably in Korean, Vietnamese, Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish or Arabic.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally performed in an office environment. The ability to speak clearly on the telephone and use a computer is required. Recurring early/late hours (weekend/early morning/evening meetings). This position requires the ability to drive and use of a personal vehicle. The ability to make sound judgments is essential.
COMPENSATION:
Salary is $51,169.50 - $56,297.85 and is based on the Edmonds CC administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 11 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., including some evenings and weekends.
FLSA Status:
The position is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act requirements.
