The Painter performs journeyman painting tasks to maintain a comfortable, safe, and efficient environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The Painter works with a variety of interior and exterior surfaces, making appropriate repairs or preparations as necessary, and repairs/replaces all glass and glazing for windows and doors. Additionally, the Painter will refinish furniture and other woodwork as needed. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the department/university’s mission and goals. Painter positions may be assigned to Housing or Facilities Management departments.

1. High school graduation or equivalent;
2. Successful completion of a recognized painter apprenticeship program or four (4) years of fulltime journey-level painter experience;
