Currently recruiting a
Physical Therapist to provide care to active duty military members and their families at
Andrews AFB, Maryland. The Physician Therapist is a full-time position, 80 hours per two weeks, schedule can vary. Full benefits, including 22 days paid vacation/sick leave and 11 paid Federal holidays.

DUTIES OF THE PHYSICAL THERAPIST:
- Perform a full range of physical therapist services in accordance with the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF.
- Utilizes a wide range of concepts, principles, and methodologies of the therapeutic field to provide examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and outcome assessment for Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries.
- Provide appropriate therapeutic procedures and provide a full range of therapy services in support of patient referrals and direct access (no referral).
- All patient contact and care shall be safe, timely, result in achievement of realistic and documented treatment goals, and comply with or satisfy the intent of the referring medical staff (when referred).
- Test and measure the patient' s strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and/or respiratory and circulatory efficiency. Record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
- Administer appropriate modalities to relieve pain, using available equipment, as well as pharmaceuticals.
- Administer joint mobilization/manipulation and soft tissue mobilization, applying knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology.
- Instruct patient and family in therapeutic exercises and treatment plans/procedures to continue in clinic and/or at home.
- Evaluate, fit, adjust and prescribe orthotic devices and recommend modification as required.
- Provide documented treatment, discharge and referral recommendations to members of the staff in routine, emergency, and special cases as needed.
- Provide input and attend rehabilitation team meetings, seminars, professional staff meetings and quality assurance meetings.
- Participate in peer review activities. Provide guidance, training, preceptorship and clinical supervision to physical therapy assistants, physical medicine technicians, interns/students and other medical providers.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PHYSICAL THERAPIST:
- Degree/Education: A DPT or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from a Physical Therapy program acceptable to the USAF Surgeon General and accredited by (CAPTE) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Graduate from a college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Trigger point Dry Needling certification is highly recommended but not required.
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: At a minimum, all health care workers must maintain at the contractor s expense current certification in either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers without lapses. Members must present proof of current certification(s) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Computer-based training does not constitute fulfilling the training requirements.
- Experience: Have at least 24 months of experience within the past 36 months as a physical therapist.
- Licensure/Registration: A current, unrestricted license to practice Physical Therapy in any one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
