The Process Control Engineer is a direct-hire position working with a Wood Products (Biomass) client in the Urania, LA. area.
The Process Control Engineer is responsible for developing a scope and project timeline, assisting in the bid process, and managing contractors for predominately electrical projects. The Process Control Engineer also utilizes current and new industry accepted developments to improve plant performance and reliability, which includes initiating and developing control system modifications and new projects. The Process Control Engineer supports Operations, Maintenance, the Process Engineering Team and Capital Projects Team in the areas of project management, development of budgets and execution of the Manufacturing Policy and Plan.
Process Control Engineer Job Description:

Process Control Engineer Job Description:
- Process Control Engineer manages electrical projects from initial assignment to final close-out
- Coordinate manufacturing or building of machine improvements and/or plant systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical/automation problems.
- Process Control Engineer researches and analyzes design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
- Research, design, evaluate and install electrical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Develop and implement appropriate systems for plant/process controls maintenance, monitoring, and optimization
- Provide process control engineering assistance/support to the Operations and Maintenance Teams as required for process controls and data history
- Provide evaluations on assigned and self-initiated tasks (identifying, analyzing, and recommending actions to address abnormal and inefficient plant controls and data history systems)
- Participate in and at times lead incident investigation teams for troubleshooting and determining root cause of plant issues/problems
- Review and recommend changes to the plant control loops, “cause and effect matrix”, alarm list, etc., to improve plant reliability and protect plant assets
Process Control Engineer Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or ten years of experience in process control with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Process Control Engineering occupation
- Experience in programming and maintenance of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems
- Experience with PLC programming Software: Siemens Simatic Manager and TIA Portal or Allen Bradley ControlLogix
- Experience with VFDs: Allen Bradley Powerflex, Siemens G120, or Schneider Altivar
- Experience with Smart MCCs: Siemens SIMOCODE or Allen Bradley Intellicenter
- Experience with process control communication types (i.e., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Modbus)
- Experience with Instrumentation troubleshooting and calibration
- Familiar with NFPA 70 and National Electric Code
- Good understanding of required Codes, Standards, Acts and Regulations and awareness of various international Codes, Standards, Acts and Regulations
- To perform this job successfully the candidate must be skilled in English verbal and written communication and must be competent with the Microsoft Office suite of programs (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Candidates must be able to commute to the Urania, LA. area on a daily basis, or be willing to relocate.
