Procurement Specialist – Reading, PA

We have an immediate opening for a Procurement Specialist at our 621 Brentwood Drive Facility. Hours 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday thru Friday

The primary role of the Procurement specialist is to assist with the qualification and evaluation of key supplier, negotiate purchase terms and agreements, and ensure all purchased items meet the company’s specifications. Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Cost negotiation, validation, and timely processing of purchase orders in Syteline.
  • Address MRP generated messages to reschedule, expedite, deferral or cancellation as required to meet production schedules or avoid excess levels of inventory.
  • Process purchase order confirmations.
  • Effectively manage requisition to pay process.
  • Evaluate supplier performance – issue supplier scorecards for on time and delivery performance.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to gather and document requirements and specifications for purchased items.
  • Documentation of policies and procedures for corporate procurement.
  • Administer, follow up and verify supplier related issues and corrective actions for quality and delivery improvement.
  • Management of vendor contracts in Syteline.
  • Extracting and analyzing spend data by various criteria in Syteline and PowerBi.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to avoid unnecessary expedite, freight or rework charges.
  • Meet with suppliers on a regular basis or as needed. Maintain strong relationships to develop a business partnership. Continually work to develop ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency within the supply chain. Conduct all interactions with suppliers with an elevated level of professionalism.
  • Provide or participate in training as needed.
  • Cross train and provide coverage for others within the procurement department as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.

Essential Skills:

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: bachelor’s degree (BS) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: HIGH, Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner to suppliers. Strong understanding of business processes, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: HIGH, Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • REASONING ABILITY: HIGH, Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in a situation where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
  • OTHER: Ability to Multitask and prioritize. Ability to manage multiple suppliers and make decisions that are in the best interest of Brentwood. Strong skills in the following: interpersonal, negotiation, organizational, and multitasking. Highly developed attention to detail. Ability to work in a team environment.
