Summary of Duties:

Subject matter expert on the design of RK Mission Critical products. Works directly with a Product Manager to communicate RFIs, approve design or scope changes and validate design intent per the project contract/product specifications.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop a detailed bill of materials in coordination with Product Designer efforts and Product Management/customer requirements.
  • Inform Designer development of project- and product-specific documentation created for production that align with quality, performance, and retention requirements.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to approve submittals for engineered items and develop engineering direction for design/manufacturing.
  • Uphold RK Mission Critical documentation and design & development standards and practices as well as product/customer specifications.
  • Investigate design changes to produce Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to the RKMC team to ensure training and communication.
  • Ensure all flow-down requirements from the project are met by vendors/sub-contracts.
  • Actively participate in drawing reviews for input of manufacturability. Coordinate feedback with Production.
  • Propose and execute continuous improvement projects to increase workflow efficiency.
  • Review shop operations for opportunities to simplify workflow and material handling.
  • SME for product design RK Mission Critical
  • Communicates RFIs, approves design and scope changes.


Accountability:

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected.
  • RK Mission Critical employees and subcontractors are required to implement and maintain all safety and health systems practices including the training requirement of RK Industries Orientation.


Minimum Physical Requirements
:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
  • Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Manufacturing or related field and minimum 3 years of experience. Will consider those with BS in Electrical Engineering with less experience.
  • Firm knowledge of Microsoft Suite products including Teams, Planner, and Excel.
  • Strong computer literacy and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge base in Lean Six Sigma principles or other continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques.
  • Preferred familiarity with modular/prefabricated buildings and their regulatory requirements.
  • Preferred experience designing layouts for UL 508A panels and other electrical enclosures.
