Description
Wherever you travel in Kentucky, you are never far from one of our 45 Kentucky State Parks! Our most vital role is to safeguard the assets of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet. We are seeking a Part-Time Program Investigative Officer II to join the Department of Parks, Division of Human Resources. This position will conduct investigations into workplace complaints including misconduct, theft, discrimination, harassment, and other sensitive matters.
Job duties include but are not limited to:

- Conducts surveillance, interviews employees, and leads investigations.
- Researches policies and procedures as it relates to investigative matters.
- Prepares detailed investigative reports and findings.
- Advises appointing authority and office of legal affairs on compliance issues and report findings.
- Testifies in judicial, administrative, and personnel board hearings.
- Drafts correspondence for the Appointing Authority including memos, reports, and letters.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Background or previous experience in Executive Branch HR statutes and regulations.
- Knowledge of interview techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have five years of investigative, administrative, business, or social work/eligibility experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in the above fields will substitute for up to two years of the non-investigative experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above fields will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): One year of the required experience must include investigative work.
Working Conditions
Typical working conditions include normal office work as well as field work. Travel throughout the state may be required to conduct interviews and to obtain information and evidence. Onsite reviews of material, interviews and surveillance may be required. Overnight travel and working irregular hours may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
