Distinctive Healthcare is currently seeking to hire full time Psychometrist Tech to work at the military facility at Fort Bliss, TX
Responsibilities:
- Works for the TBI Department exclusively and is under the day-to-day oversight of the
Chief of the Traumatic Brain Injury Department and the Intrepid Spirit Center, William
Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) or designee. Independently performs duties
in accordance with (IAW) generally accepted psychological theories, methods,
techniques, the basics for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBP) and Cognitive Processing
Therapy (additional abilities that would benefit the patient(s) are welcome and practices
with considerable leeway (Board Certified Psychometrist perform assigned assessment
procedures under the supervision of a credentialed privileged psychologist or
neuropsychologist. Determines the health care priority of wounded warriors and their
families. Determines appropriate tests battery required and coordinates appointments for
Behavioral Health (BH) providers and appointments supporting BH care. Gathers patient
case history, complaints, and other problem-related information for use in evaluation and
diagnosis of patients. Compiles written case history, patient complaints, test results, and
other clinically relevant information. Selects appropriate diagnostic evaluation
procedures. Determines, administers and scores objective psychological,
neuropsychological, personality, and achievement test batteries. The incumbent conducts
clinical interviews, administers and scores neuropsychological tests, and prepares
summary data sheets for clinical review.
- Utilize therapeutic assessment and interview skills to elicit accurate and concise account
of the patient's condition. Manages and schedules appointments for continuous streams of
simultaneous Intensive Outpatient Program cohorts. Manages, organizes and tracks the
psychological evaluation process for these IOP cohorts including coordinating schedule
to work with all modalities involved and keeps the evaluation and treatment of patients
and providers and keeps the evaluation and treatment process for psychology, IOP and
neuropsychology updated and efficient.
- Screen patients to determine presenting problems and priority of appointment. Performs
basic assessment procedures, including initial screening evaluation and standardized
neuropsychological testing. Has considerable leeway during this process to complete
additional testing determined by ongoing assessment. Assist credentialed providers with
identifying mental health diagnosis and treatment strategies, social situations that impact
care and mental health, Army unique stressors, as well as providing patient education.
Summarizes testing work product for each patient specific to the needs of each provider
by scoring, compiling, synthesizing and organizing test data. Maintains the security and
inventory of psychological testing materials (including notebook computers, assessment
manuals and response booklets, and both electronic and physical patient data).
- Assist in providing specialized treatment and rehabilitation of brain injured and mental
health patients. Observe, monitor, report, and record patient interaction during
assessment sessions.
- Utilize precautionary measures already in place to prevent patient injuries due to suicide,
homicide, or elopement.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Education (5.2.4): Bachelor's Degree.
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): Certified by Board of
Certified Psychometrists (BCP). Basic Life Support (BLS) must be from the American
Red Cross
- Experience: One year of full-time experience during the preceding three (3) years in
the performance of psychological and/or neuropsychological testing and test scoring.
- Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): Certified by Board of Certified Psychometrists
(BCP).
