Summary:

Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses is the central study abroad department at Temple University, responsible for administering study abroad programs and liaising with Temple’s overseas campuses in Rome, Italy and Tokyo, Japan. Education Abroad facilitates academic year, semester, and summer study abroad programs, enrolling an average of 1100 Temple and non-Temple students a year, and supports education abroad opportunities throughout the university. Our mission is to provide transformative global learning experiences that prepare Temple undergraduate students and those from our U.S. partner institutions to succeed, to become engaged, global citizens, collective problem-solvers and leaders of tomorrow. Education Abroad is a unit of the Office of International Affairs.

Education Abroad seeks a Education Abroad Program Manager, reporting to the Director of Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses, and serving as a key member of the office’s leadership team. The incumbent prepares and manages approximately $7.0 million in budgets for Education Abroad; pays invoices and reconciles purchases for the unit; provides faculty support for travel; and administers office operations including hiring, timekeeping, and technology needs. The Manager oversees the setting of program fees and billing for study abroad programs, supports scholarship awarding, and serves as a liaison to the Bursar and Student Financial Services. The Manager is responsible for data collection and analysis and for submitting the University’s yearly report to IIE Open Doors.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of directly related experience. Experience should include exposure to administrative policy/procedures, office systems development, budget management, financial reporting and office management in higher education. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of the strategic planning process and how it relates to budget formation.
  • Ability to develop creative and innovative solutions to financial, budget and program management issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to make presentations to small and large audiences
  • Strong administrative skills and must be organized, detail oriented, and able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated professionalism with the ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of all constituent groups
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to employ advanced customer service approaches and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and especially Excel
  • Experience working with databases

Preferred Skills & Abilities:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in an international education office in support of complex, international academic programs
  • Experience with Banner

Please note this position will work remotely, the duration of remote work will be at the discretion of Temple University and the department.
