Recreational Therapy Aide Part-Time Job at Rest haven Care
Position Summary: Plan, schedule, and lead quality programming for resident in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice, and their individuality.
Essential Responsibility:
- Complete project assignments within budget, with quality, and on schedule.
- Assist and direct volunteer support.
- Plan, schedule, and lead various group activities for residents. Some activities may involve serving food to residents with/without diet restrictions. Chart daily activity participation and attendance for all residents.
- Perform and participate in one-on-one activities for individual residents based upon their functional level, including but not limited to, playing music, reading and conversation.
- Perform admissions/initial assessments of a new or returning resident and discharges as needed.
- Perform and complete MDS’s, Care Plans, IPN notes, Quarterlies, Change of Conditions, Annual Assessments, and update residents care plans as it relates to activities.
- Assist in the preparation of a monthly calendar of activities.
- Clean and maintain the activity equipment and rooms/areas.
- Plan, schedule and participate in resident outings and bus trips.
- Develop and maintain a good rapport with all units involved with the care plan to ensure that a team effort is being achieved in developing a comprehensive plan of care specific to the individual’s personality and daily living.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Possession of a high school diploma or successful completion of G.E.D. test.
- Ability to speak clearly and loudly when leading activities and announcements.
- Effective verbal communication and re-directional skills.
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings when necessary.
- Knowledge of the use and applications of various computer programs.
Nonessential Responsibilities:
- Ensure customer/client satisfaction.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Nonessential Skills & Experience:
- College course work in social work, gerontology, or human services.
- Associates Degree in OT, therapeutic recreation, NAAPA certification, or a qualified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or as an Activities Professional.
- Previous experience working with the elderly.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and residents.
