Restorative Connections Specialist Job at Teach Iowa
Implements program services related to restorative supports as they relate to solving conflicts and repairing harm within the school community
Work in collaboration with the Restorative Connections Room/Program Coordinator, administration, social worker, guidance counselor, and other school personnel to serve student needs and coordinate support services such as couseling or strategy sessions
Works collaboratively with Restorative Connection Room/Program Coordinator and school administration on Alternatives to Suspension practices
Uses safe, responsible and respectful principles in program administration
Works collaberatively on the building SEL data team and provides input regarding restorative, intervention and other data as presented on these topics
Keep daily records of student visits, conversations, and interventions. Regularly participates in the collection of and analysis of data to improve school restorative and intervention services
De-escalates and resolves student conflicts by implementing restorative practices, including facilitating restorative conferences with students, staff and parents
Contact parents/guardians, as appropriate, to invite them to participate in restorative circles
Works collaberatively with school administration, school counselors, social workers and other personnel (SEL Team) to implement restorative discipline practices, including facilitating restorative conferences with teachers and students and coaching of teachers in leading restorative conferences
Assists the Restorative Practices Room/Program Coordinator in creating highly engaging restorative practice lessons for students and staff
Facilitates student and teacher surveys to assess the effectiveness of Restorative Room interventions
Connect students with appropriate support when they experience trauma
De-escalate students experiencing trauma
Make referrals to school social workers and school counselors as needed
Works with outside resources to hold community nights throughout the year for paretns to learn about mental health and other services in the community available to help their families and invites these services to meet with groups of those interested in further information or assistance
Participates in professional learning to increase knowledge and improve skills
