Since Marin Sanitary Service was founded (in 1948) its evolution has closely paralleled that of Marin County itself. Our company has grown and our divisions work together to provide comprehensive collection, recycling, and education services to our community.

• Marin Sanitary Service (MSS) – Provides weekly residential and commercial waste collection, recyclables, and organic pick-up services as well as street sweeping.
• Marin Recycling Center (MRC)– Accepts and processes collected recyclables including glass bottles and jars, aluminum and tin cans, plastic bottles, jugs and tubs, waste papers, and cardboard. The center also provides community education and tours through the Environmental Classroom.
• Marin Resource Recovery Center (MRRC)– Accepts and processes non-hazardous materials through a customized system of screens, conveyors, blowers, magnets, and hand-sorting. It also offers debris box rental.
• Marin Household Hazardous Waste Facility (MHHWF)– Accepts hazardous materials from Marin residents and businesses.

We are seeking a highly capable Route Auditor with strong communication and qualitative reasoning skills to join our dynamic team. The Route Auditor accompanies a driver during their scheduled commercial or residential route to ensure customers are receiving the appropriate service and ensures accurate billing including additional service fees. The Route Auditor will identify areas of contamination by jurisdiction and send notifications as needed. The Route Auditor will identify and recommend areas for enhanced operational efficiencies, improvements in route scheduling and safety protocols, opportunities for increases in service capabilities and other changes to enhance the customer’s experience. Candidates must have a high degree of attention to detail and the ability to follow through on projects. This is a full-time position with an excellent salary, benefits package and a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Compare observed customer service data to customer information used for billing in Soft-Pak (customer billing software.)
• Promptly reports service interruptions activity to the Route Manager
• Generates notifications to customers such as no service or service discrepancy letters.
• Recommends container repairs or replacements, as necessary.
• Sequences routes to ensure efficiencies with the Route Manager.
• Communicates and performs duties that promotes good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
• Prepares and presents detailed reports of route audit findings; reviews all audit data and recommends improvements to the Route Manager.
• Carries out SB 1383 required container contamination minimization requirements by conducting route reviews.
• Inputs findings from route reviews into Recyclist software or into appropriate tracking database/software.
• Generates notifications to non-compliant customers and provides appropriate follow-up per SB 1383 requirements.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $58,240.00 per year
