JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for provided sales support to the Courtyard by Marriott Mt. Pleasant at Central Michigan University


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordination of all events and group business, as contracted by the sales team
  • Answer sales phone calls when sales team is not available
  • Respond to sales inquiries and follow-up on all customer needs accurately, timely and in a professional manner
  • Solicit new business based on hotel’s needs (group or transient TBD by GM or Sales Leader)
  • Proactively sell and conduct tours of meeting and banquet space
  • Meet or exceed activity goals determined by GM or Sales Leader
  • Work with sales team to achieve required sales goals
  • Effectively communicate with all departments, including any outside vendors, to ensure that the meeting and related functions are executed to exceed the client’s expectations
  • Maintain well-documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file management
  • Develop strong customer relationships through professional client communication
  • Have current knowledge of hotel rates, strategies, discounts and promotions
  • Communicate with hotel team for accurate execution of group’s needs (BEO’s and group resumes)
  • Assist with completing required sales reports
  • Assist hotel with implementing hotel specific selling strategies
  • Generate correspondence, reports and necessary forms (i.e. banquet event orders, diagrams, invoices, group resumes, contracts, etc.)
  • Confirm all group and meeting details prior to arrival
  • Greet contact for each meeting and confirm expectations
  • On-site contact during events – when needed
  • Assist with set up and tear down of meeting rooms – when needed
  • Ensure proper and organized setup of meeting rooms
  • Assist with additional setup such as coat racks, pads and pens, candies, etc.
  • Create signage (reader boards and door cards) specific to each event
  • Create post-event evaluations of each event to ensure success in the future
  • Build and maintain group blocks including inputting rooming lists when necessary
  • Book all wedding blocks
  • Maintains social media sites, such as Facebook, Instagram, etc.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Event Management or Hospitality degree is a plus


ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Valid driver’s license and safe driving record – satisfactory criminal background screening required


SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate, listen, stand for long periods of time, ability to walk, kneel, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.


EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Flexible 40 Hours. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
