Pay Range
$104,370 - $135,192 Annually for theH03.3 level
$125,160 - $162,120 Annually for the H03.4 level
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
Do you love science and people? We have an opening for a Senior Scientific Recruiter/Team Lead to join our Talent Acquisition Team. As the Senior Scientific Recruiter/Team Lead, you will be a strategic trusted partner who is passionate about our mission and innovative in sourcing and hiring top talent while providing an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience. In addition, this position leads a team of 2 Full Cycle Recruiters and 2 Employment Coordinators. Our ideal team member is curious, collaborative, influencer, and a relationship-builder who will have a high degree of autonomy to source and engage top scientific talent for our Physical and Life Sciences Directorate.

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
In this role you will
- Source and present top talent through a variety of creative channels; conduct in-depth phone screens, assessing candidates evaluating skill level, driving offer process, including salary recommendations, and closing of candidates’ while maintaining a positive focus on experience throughout the process.
- Help define and reinforce a consistent recruiting process that results in a superior candidate and hiring manager experience
- Conduct training sessions and information workshops on a variety of recruitment topics
- Demonstrated commitment to being seen as a talent advisor on complex and challenging recruiting trends, searches, and methodologies focusing on areas, including atmospheric, earth, and energy sciences, biosciences and biotechnology, materials science, nuclear and chemical sciences, and physics.
- Report on and respond to recruiting related KPIs and metrics to inform the business and to drive recruitment strategies
- Cultivate positive relationships, drive for results and customer centric with a strategic focus on recruiting efforts, diversity initiatives, compensation, and providing status updates to all stakeholders
- Assure compliance with Federal and State regulations and Laboratory policies on recruitment and employment activities.
- Participate in virtual and onsite career events, which may require travel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities, at the H03.4 level
- Lead, mentor, empower and grow a team that focuses on recruiting efforts in the Physical and Life Sciences area, including atmospheric, earth, and energy sciences, biosciences and biotechnology, materials science, nuclear and chemical sciences, and physics.
- Lead efforts on mechanisms/reports for identifying and engaging talent and reporting ROI for in-house tools, public events, and conferences and ensure the same for your direct reports; manage the recruiting process through SmartRecruiters and ensure data integrity.
Qualifications
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Business, Human Resources or related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Experience consulting, developing, and implementing recruitment strategies, pipelines, and customized marketing campaigns while assuring compliance of organizational policies and federal and state regulations.
- A curious mindset that allows you to constantly learn and challenge the status quo.
- Proven track record of delivering results while managing multiple requisitions in an often fluid and ambiguous environment
- Exceptional sourcing skills with creating complex diverse search strategies utilizing a variety of sourcing plans, developing data analysis/metrics reports and presentations.
- Knowledge of HR employment laws, federal/state regulations, and an understanding of HR systems, including applicant tracking systems
- Advanced verbal/written communication, excellent customer service, negotiating skills and the ability to effectively explain, advise and influence potential applicants and internal customers.
- Ability to travel as needed.

Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
