As a Consumer Insights Senior Scientist for this role will have extensive experience in product development to include the use of design thinking principles, competitive intelligence and analysis of insights, the ability to take ideas and insights and translate into new or improved concepts and/or prototypes, the ability to develop and execute against product learning plans, the ability to develop and use standard bench methods for testing and evaluation, the ability to execute consumer research methods, as well as solid project management and project leadership skills.

Candidates should have experience delivering new product solutions in support of an innovation pipeline to fuel growth. This position requires an individual with a passion for delivering products and solutions that meet consumer needs.

This position requires effective stakeholder management within R&E, Marketing, Procurement, Product Supply, Finance and Legal. The incumbent reports to an R&D Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead product development efforts in support of the innovation, design, development, and optimization of nonwovens materials used in consumer and KCP products.

  • Develop and implement research methodologies, including surveys, focus groups, and other qualitative and quantitative research techniques.

  • Lead and teach others on product design and prototyping to showcase nonwoven material innovation for testing, demonstrating, and driving portfolio/business decisions.

  • Conduct consumer research to identify trends, needs, and preferences and translate into material learning plans and specifications.

  • Advocate for the consumer by empathizing with and understanding their needs. Teach others to use design thinking principles to understand consumer insights, claims and product benefits.

  • Analyze and interpret data to identify patterns and insights that inform the creation of claims and generation of benefit visualizations to drive adoption of new and improved nonwoven materials.

  • Construct and write concepts and ensure nonwoven material and process teams champion key consumer benefits and claims from concept to commercialization.

  • Consult on the development of learning plans. Find synergies and gaps in learning plans and/or improve the research planning process.

  • Lead and train team members on the appropriate consumer research tools to use to deliver against project goals.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in related major scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in product development.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of consumer and/or KCP product designs and how nonwoven materials interact and impact their preference and performance.

  • Experience as a product lead on product development projects.

  • Demonstrated leadership to achieving results.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time globally.

Preferred:

  • Experience using consumer insights, data, design thinking and scientific methodologies to solve problems and articulate recommendations.

  • Experience and expertise with Kimberly-Clark products, procedures, and processes.

  • Solid customer facing communication skills in technical and business settings are highly encouraged.

  • Effective in a rapidly evolving environment and work across organizational and regional boundaries.
