This position is responsible for policy matters in the Bureau of Special Education.
The administration, management and operation of the BSE Director's Office will focus on the provision of advisory and consultative services to school districts and intermediate units in the planning, monitoring, improvement and evaluation of special education 's programs and services in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Specifically, the Director, which includes the policy teams, are charged with the following primary duties: (1) The management of a system for investigation of consumer complaints as required by federal regulations, (2) Conducting cyclical monitoring in local education agencies, (3) Review and approval of intermediate unit and school district special education plans to ensure that a full range of services are being provided for students with disabilities and (4) Management of other statewide functions and/or duties as designated.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, (1) day per week in office, Tuesday. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- This position involves travel.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of professional experience in special education including two years as an administrator of a special education program; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years as an administrator of a special education program.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
