Description
  • Assist with managing and coordinating the American Indian Education Grant by recruiting students, working with parents and developing program K-12.
  • Support the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee in regard to any student/parent resources and needs, as well as community needs.
  • Organize and assist with meetings and special events to include the cultural presentations in November, as well as assist DISD schools and/or libraries.
  • Assist in the coordination/monitoring of accountability for multicultural programs and to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Keep abreast of technical legislature, professional trends and developments affecting assigned programs and disseminate this information to PAC and appropriate personnel.
  • Attend the first and last PAC meeting of each semester, and major PAC events for purposes of introductions to the community and recruitment, and prepare and submit a monthly reports.
  • Monitor students through group and individual meetings as needed at secondary level in regard to Drop Out, Truancy, Higher Ed, and Career & Academic Guidance.
  • Provide documentation of sessions that include students enrolled in the AIEP.
  • Participate in any online or area training provided before the grant due dates and provide documentation upon completion.
  • Prepare and review any changes to the submissions of the Formula Grant as needed within the designated timeframe.
  • Provide opportunities to present college and career information to secondary students, and disseminate local higher education workshops and/or information to secondary AIEP students.
  • Communicate to PAC any policy changes and/or updates.
  • In order to accommodate attendance at PAC functions and or events, the AIEP Specialist must be able to manipulate their 40-hour work week to attend said event.

All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of directly related experience in American Indian Education.
  • Experience working within a budget and grant writing experience.
  • Experience writing reports.
  • Problem solving/investigative skills to research and respond to inquiries.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of this position.
  • Strong written and oral language skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate with diverse audience.
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Oracle.
