Sr Fiscal Services Tech Job at University of New Mexico
UNM Residence Life and Student Housing (RLSH) serves over 2,000 student residents in 10 living learning communities and operates 8 residence halls at the UNM main campus, and satellite housing at Lobo Rainforest. RLSH provides essential oversight of residents, and an enriched and vibrant living experience, with more than 1,000 residential life programs offered to residents during the academic year. RLSH is a self-supporting auxiliary entity, with an annual operating budget in excess of $12 million. Year-round operations include regular term housing, summer housing, residence life management, facilities management, summer conference and summer intern programs, desk services, student safety, marketing and communications, and other business operations. RLSH operates 24/7, 365 days/year, and is one of the largest department employers of students.
This Senior Fiscal Services Tech position reports to the Business Manager within the unit headed by the Assistant Director for Business Operations and provides direct support of fiscal operations for managers and staff across the department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Processing complex fiscal, budgetary, and/or other associated transactions, reconciling, balancing, and tracking activity, preparing financial reports, analysis and information for management, and working with department staff to provide guidance and training on fiscal processes and requirements as well as problem solving.
Processing fiscal items to include PCard expense reports, requisitions, journal vouchers, and other Procurement actions, as well as payroll (LoboTime), payroll reconciliation, labor redistribution, support for hiring actions, EPANs, EPAFs, etc. Other duties will include reviewing submitted documents and applying UNM policies for compliance, timeliness, accuracy and completeness of financial records and documentation, providing various ad hoc and scheduled reports via spreadsheets, MyReports, HR reports, ePrint, etc., and reconciling processed expenses, budgets, allocations, transfers and receipts for multiple indexes, and identifying, investigating, troubleshooting and problem solving related to funds, budgets, expenditures, receipts, etc.
In addition to experience in fiscal operations, the successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to customer service, be detail oriented, meet deadlines, follow instructions, able to work across entities and operational units, effective communications, solid time management skills and able to adapt to and manage change while maintaining fiscal effectiveness.

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Proficiency/Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and time management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage confidential information.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize work assignment.
- Excellent customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain records and documentation, track, analyze, interpret data, and generate reports.
- Proficient in understanding and application of general accounting functions.
- Proficient in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in researching using analytical and critical thinking skills to develop skills and familiarize with job duties and the department/university.
Experience in/with:
- Preferred knowledge in the understanding and application of University policies and procedures regarding Central Accounting, Purchasing, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Inventory, Payroll, P-Card or similar.
- Experience in Banner, ChromeRiver, LoboMart, Workflow, MyReports, and/or similar.
- Experience with processing Purchase Orders, Journal Vouchers, booking and reimbursement of travel.
