Pay: $55,000 - $60,000 annual


Benefits:

New hourly full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.

Full-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (“PTO”) in accordance with the Company policy at a rate of 120 hours per year.

Full-Time team members are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually.

Part-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Sick Leave in accordance with state guidelines.

All team members 21 years and older are eligible to participate in the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after completion of 60 days of service.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a key member of the Club Operations Team for BlueStar Resort & Golf, the Club Staff Accountant / People Services heads up the Human Resources and Accounting departments. This position reports to the Club General Manager.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSGR) to support the achievement of company goals.
  • Maintain effective communication with all team members to maintain a smooth, informed, and consistent atmosphere related to office functions.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all human resources and business matters.
  • Manages all duties and responsibilities related to the People Services hiring process—from new hire through termination.
  • Process payroll and benefits.; process workman’s compensation.
  • Manage daily sales and deposits, and accounts payable (invoices, check runs).
  • Manage retail inventory (receiving merchandise, month-end physical count) and Food & Beverage inventory review.
  • Develop, review, and coordinate implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures; responsible for establishing and monitoring cash controls.
  • Oversee reporting functions that summarize and forecast business activity and financial position related to income, expenses, and earnings based upon past, present, and expected operations; contact for company audits.
  • Assist with budget planning and monitoring support to assure revenues and expenses are achieving and exceeding the department’s financial sales goals.
  • Monitor the Club’s performance to determine whether strategies and plans require adjustment to positively impact revenues and cost controls.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when the Club General Manager is not available.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent experience required.
  • Previous knowledge or experience working in a homeowner association preferred.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry a plus.
  • Previous Human Resources preferred.
  • Experience working in a homeowner association is highly regarded.
  • Computer literate with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC technology.
  • Club Management System software a plus.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of members, customers, or team members.
  • Must possess basic computational ability as well as budgetary analysis.
  • Quick Books and JD Edwards accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of GAAP guidelines (general accepted accounting principles) as they apply to the position.
  • Must have excellent analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to respond to the needs and requests of staff members, guests, and the community association.
  • Must have planning, problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, time management, supervisory and employee development skills.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule, to include evenings and weekends, with some travel.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates in a professional indoor office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copy and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
