Title: Staff Accountant

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager – Financials & Trusts, the Staff Accountant will process various aspects of accounting for the Firm including general accounting operations and verifying financial transactions as well as serving as back-up to the Accounts Receivable and Trust Specialists. This position requires an organized and highly motivated team player with strong initiative, communication skills and an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare month end reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts
- Maintain daily and monthly journal entries and general journal recordkeeping
- Initiate, review and confirm bank transactions
- Provide backup to the Accounts Receivable and Trust Specialist positions
- Assist Senior Accountant with various accounting projects
- Provide support for audits by external entities
- Compile documents and coordinate communication and distribution to outside contractors
- Research and respond to various internal and external financial inquiries
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements and Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, preferred
- 1-2 years of accounting experience; Law Firm experience is a plus
- Microsoft Office skills and strong Excel skills required; Elite Financial System experience is a plus
- Ability to understand and apply basic GAAP theories and procedures
- Ability to identify and resolve potential process inefficiencies
- Strong ability to research, use good judgment, and apply problem solving skills
- Professional interpersonal skills, including outstanding oral and written communication
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and developed organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet changing deadlines
- Strong client service focus and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to interact effectively, respectfully, and professionally with people at all organizational levels
