The Tank Construction Superintendent will have the overall responsibility for all field-based activities within the Tank Center of Excellence program. This will include assisting in the development of the project execution and repair plans, identifying any deviations from the agreed scope or premises of the project, assessing their impact, and ensuring remedial action during the construction planning and execution. This role plays a key project team integration role and is expected to be knowledgeable across all functional areas of tank maintenance and repairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Construction Field Representatives as well as other functional specialists to safely manage and coordinate all construction activities, ensuring that work is completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. During the construction phase the Tank Construction Superintendent, coordinates permitting activities, participates in Project Risk Management process and manages the Contractors efforts. Additionally, the superintendent will conduct all supervisory and motivational duties for the assigned team.
Responsibilies to include:
Manage and oversee all field work related to API 653 tank maintenance and repair program, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Develop and maintains positive relationships with project teams, operations staff, clients, contractor, and vendors.
Works with the COE’s project team to identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies
Manage and supervise field personnel, including contractor and subcontractors
Conducts regular site visits within assigned regions to monitor progress and ensure all work are being performed safely and efficiently.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure all project goals are being met.
Resolve any issues or disputes that arise during the project, working closely with all parties involved to find effective solutions
Assist in pre-qualifying candidate fabricators and contractors
Participating in scope of work creation, bid clarification & kick-off meetings.
Implementing site QA/QC Management Systems; utilizing 3rd party specialist contractor services as appropriate.
Reviewing and providing input to Construction Manager of contractor's schedules and planning basis (norms). Ensuring veracity of progress statements. Specifying and negotiating progress recovery measures with contractor as appropriate.
Assisting Construction Manager in specifying & securing approval for site team budget.

Basic/Required
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Must maintain a valid driver’s license
High school diploma or GED
5 -7 years of direct construction site management of large liquid hydro-carbon tank projects (API 650 storage tanks).
Previous Midstream or refinery project and/or oil & gas construction management experience
Awareness of oil & gas industry recommended practice, design methods and QA/QC requirements with respect to checking procedures, incorporation of agreed changes and document control
Experience managing engineering and construction contractors
80% travel to work sites and engineering offices will be required to support project development, engineering design activities, field construction activities and PTO/commissioning support
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent training or education
Team player with proven management and staff leadership skills.
10 years of direct construction site management of large liquid hydro-carbon tank projects (API 650 storage tanks).
Working knowledge of all relevant engineering & construction codes and standards.
Demonstrated ability for development of reports for and presentations to management.
Industry certifications (API 650, 653, CWI, NACE, TES, NDE, CWE, etc.)
