POSITION SUMMARY:
Individuals within this job classification are responsible to assist in managing the activities of the organizational unit (department(s)), including:
- Integrating the services with the hospital’s primary function
- Coordinating/integrating inter/intradepartmental services
- Developing/implementing policies and procedures that guide/support services
- Recommending sufficient number of qualified/competent staff
- Determining staff qualifications and competence
- Continuously assessing and improving departmental performance
- Maintaining appropriate quality control programs
- Ensuring orientation and continuing education for staff
- Recommending space/other resources needed by the department
- Participating in the selection of outside services.
The OR Coordinator will promote the mission and values of Bristow Endeavor Healthcare and CORE specifically and be an active advocate of providing quality patient care, excellent customer service and efficient health care. Responsible for direction of patient care in the operative environment. Manages seven staff members in the Ambulatory Surgery, Surgery and PACU departments. Consults with staff, physicians and Nurse Executive on nursing issues and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. As a member of the leadership team, this individual will be involved in system planning, budgeting, man-power planning and program development in accordance with BEHC standards in order to deliver efficient, effective and quality patient care. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. The OR Coordinator will also be expected to regularly staff on the unit as a Charge Nurse. As a Leader he/she is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.
Regulatory Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Oklahoma .
- Current BCLS certification.
- Current ACLS certification or Basic EKG or Arrhythmia-identification certification.
- At least two (2) years of nursing management experience.
- At least two (2) years of experience in surgical nursing.
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge.
