Description of Job Responsibilities

Poultry Husbandry; walking through multiple poultry barns on multiple ranches. Measuring, differing criteria while observing live animals while walking.

Essential Job Functions:

· Supervise and manage farms activities

· Training managers and worker

· Monitoring bird health

· Coordinate cleanup, setup/placements

· Paperwork/data entry

· Tracking and reporting weights, ranch supplies, feed consumption

· Monitoring estimating current and future projections.

· Safety training records

· Develop and maintain programs

· Feed and nutrition/vaccine

· Ventilation

· Make adjustments accordingly

· Meetings bi-monthly

Decision Making Responsibilities:

Makes suggestions on decisions about personnel, suggests purchases of new farm equipment, deciding when to clean out at the end of a flock. Purchases supplies as needed for new flocks and other purchases through various venders and suppliers. Making sure areas are C&D.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Up to 14 direct reports

· Approximately 50 indirect reports

Working and Environmental Conditions:

Physical demands can vary day-to-day but includes standing, walking, sitting, lifting etc. The environmental condition can vary as well but can be cold, hot, wet, humid, and noisy.

Working Relationships:

Internally: Hatchery, Live Haul, Scheduling, Accounting, Human Resources and Feed Mill Departments.

Externally: County AG Department, Environmental Health Department, NPIP (National Poultry Improvement Plan), USDA (US Department of agriculture), CAL/OSHA (California Occupational Safety and Health Administration).

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science or related agriculture degree (desired)

· Traveling

· Strong leadership and organizational skills

· Computer proficiency/MS Office
