Job Summary

• Examine title orders within company guidelines to determine the conditions of the title and insurability by considering the effect of documents such as deeds, mortgages, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, probates, and other matters of record
• Research respective title plant software, analyze and evaluate pertinent record documents for determination of ownership, legal descriptions, and any conjunction to title
• Explain chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and managers
• Recognize title defects and assist with curative efforts
• Assess risks and liabilities that may jeopardize the company, and bring these matters to the attention of the title manager
• Maintain proper production levels and delivery standards daily
• Review title clearance, power of attorney, trusts, surveys prepared on properties, as applicable
• Work closely with the customer and escrow staff to meet time requirements for options, and assist with answering questions
• Prepare an accurate and comprehensive title commitment in accordance with company examining and policy procedures

Knowledge and Skills

Candidates must have a solid understanding of real estate law and possess the ability to assess legal documents that may impact real estate transactions. Qualified candidates must have prior title examination experience and have title searching background in the State of ILLINOIS. A high degree of accuracy, thoroughness, and the ability to make sound decisions are critical because quality of examining directly influences Company liability. Excellent research and organizational skills enable the position to complete the examination process in a timely manner.

· Experience with MS Office suite

· Excellent verbal/written communication skills

· Able to always maintain professionalism and a positive service attitude

· Strong detail orientation

· Customer service orientation

· Exercises good judgment

· Experience with Softpro software preferred

· 4+ Years of title examining preferred

Pay: From $58,000.00 per year
