POSITION SUMMARY

Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Tribal Doctor Program. As needed, provides training to all employees. The program supervisor must be able to see clients and provide direct health care through traditional medicine and practices. The position reports directly to the Vice President/Tribal Government Services Administrator.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees the work of the Tribal Doctor Staff and completion of required daily tasks, prioritizing workloads appropriately when necessary.

Trains all employees, as necessary, and will be responsible to evaluate their performance based on their knowledge, skills and competency.

Oversees Tribal Doctor Staff, including hiring, scheduling, and administers disciplinary actions.

Participates in the continuous improvement process to enhance quality of service delivery to the clients of the Tribal Doctor Program.

Reviews and processes timesheets of program staff.

Coordinates with Tribal Government Services Administrator to make recommendations to the program budget and submit revisions as needed.

Generates program reports and participates in Tribal Affairs Committee meetings and village meetings, as necessary.

Makes decisions on routine functions of the program and consults with the VP/Tribal Government Services Administrator regarding best practices and provides recommendations to change program policy and procedures.

Exhibits professional behavior at all times in the general public, with clients and with co-workers.

Other duties as may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Preferably speaks both Inupiaq and the English language competently. Familiar with Inupiaq culture, environment and able to relate to people and clients. Must have in-depth knowledge of all aspects of traditional medicine and health care practices. Must have at least 5 years of experience in the practice of traditional medicine and health care practices. This position requires a self-motivated person with enthusiasm for promoting activity of the Program.
