Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Vice President, Communications to join our Communications team.

This role is responsible for leading the team at Oscar that drives forward communications at Oscar. As Vice President of Communications, you'll play a critical leadership role within the company, overseeing the team responsible for managing and implementing an organization's communication strategy, internally and externally. Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer, you will be responsible for the planning, development and execution of strategies to maximize the Oscar story, support growth objectives, drive positioning and vision through media relations, digital media, and relevant conferences and speaking opportunities. You will be focused on proactively telling Oscar's story to enhance its reputation while also protecting the brand by preparing the company for issues and managing them when they arise. You will work with media outlets to secure coverage for the organization and be responsible for developing and implementing social media strategies, reviewing marketing materials for message consistency, and managing the organization's website and other online assets.


About the role

You will also be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies, in collaboration with cross-functional teams, to inform, inspire, and connect Oscar employees. You'll lead our internal communications team as they build thoughtful and impactful internal communications strategies, positioning, and creative assets to enable our best-in-class team. You're both people- and data-minded, and you're excited by the opportunity to strengthen understanding and connections among our world-class team.

You'll work closely with leaders in legal, finance, people, product, growth and operations to identify opportunities to bring the Oscar story to life.

You will report to the Chief Transformational Officer. This is a remote / work-from-home role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Washington, D.C. Note, this list of states is subject to change. #LI-Remote

The potential base pay for this role is: $228,000 - $299,250


Responsibilities

  • Together with leadership team stakeholders, be the author of and accountable for shaping the business and consumer narrative for Oscar.
  • Architect and execute our external corporate and consumer communications strategy, aligning our goals with marketing and business objectives––both near- and long-term––to achieve growth and awareness metrics.
  • Partner closely with co-Founder & CEO on corporate communications strategy and executive thought leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with your peers across the Marketing team to bring integrated, multichannel marketing campaigns to life, and create newsworthy positioning that generates press.
  • Own, develop, and iterate corporate and consumer messaging roadmap.
  • Support issues management activities, helping minimize any impact on Oscar's reputation
  • Serve as spokesperson, representing company with media and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with and provide counsel to key cross-functional stakeholders, particularly at the executive level and within our Finance, Legal, Corporate Development, Policy, and People teams
  • Translate business vision, roadmaps, and goals into a compelling internal communications strategy.
  • Develop content that gets teams rowing in the same direction, drives engagement, and cultivates the culture.
  • Leverage knowledge and strategic leadership in communications platforms and tools including intranet, All Hands, podcasts, video, mobile and social to further develop and enhance existing internal media while establishing new, innovative internal communication technologies as needed.
  • Engage with employees, championing the best ideas and feedback to make the company move faster and with more impact.
  • Identify and execute other strategic projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years experience in communications.
  • 10+ years leading and supporting a team
  • 3+ years working in Health Care
  • Experience with overseeing corporate communications strategy

Pay Transparency:

Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
