The VOCA Case Manager for the Transition Age Youth Program is responsible for establishing a close working relationship with youth with experience of trauma related to being victims of crime. The Case Manager will provide case management and mental health related services, and act as liaison with outside agencies to assist youth in developing the necessary skills to live independently and advocate for themselves in the community. Services will be delivered with dignity and respect for each individual client and a commitment to their right of choice. The VOCA Case Manager will perform intake assessments to help clients identify service priorities and needs, facilitate safety planning, and engage in consistent follow-up, contacting clients on a weekly basis. Additional duties include designing and conducting workshops and facilitating support groups. Given the vulnerability of clients, treating youth with compassion and empathy at all times is critical for the role. Consistent and timely follow-through is also critical for the role.
Responsibilities:
- Provides case management services based on best practices.
- Meets all productivity and documentation reporting requirements.
- Delivers established evidence-based practices to fidelity and complies with regulatory requirements.
- Must communicate effectively and be able to use current technology in the following areas: case notes, assessments, treatment plans, incident reports, correspondence with community service providers.
- Network/outreach and maintain collaborative relationships with community victim service providers, First Responders and other community service providers to reduce barriers that might impede victim’s access to meaningful services.
Facilitate communication between victim and police department/prosecutor’s office regarding victim’s questions or concerns to maximize the victim’s safety and level of comfort in participating in the criminal process - Coordinating and providing care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and client-centered
- Supporting and assisting clients achieve wellness and autonomy
- Draft safety plans, treatment plans, review case progress and determine client exits
- Establish a close working relationship with the VOCA therapist and be receptive to taking direction and specific requests in order to provide exemplary services and coordinate care.
- Show compassion and empathy and the ability to relate to different clients with various needs.
- Critical thinking and problem solving to determine the best care for clients, provide emotional support, counsel crime victims, support clients seeking restitution
- Various trainings should focus on learning about the criminal justice system to better support clients navigating the court systems
- Engage in weekly outreach with community partners, engaging with others in a highly professional and ethical manner.
- Advanced ability to maintain, record, and report data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Ability to communicate fluently in both Spanish & English in oral & verbal communications preferred
- Clear understanding of confidentiality, strong sense of professionalism
- Valid driver’s license
- Background check clearance (arranged/paid for by Encompass Community Services)
- Working knowledge of area social services agencies & services
- Experience working with at-risk immigrant populations preferred
- Experience working with LGBTQ populations preferred
- Experience working with domestic violence/sexual assault survivors preferred
Wages & Benefits:
Our total compensation package includes a comprehensive medical and dental insurance plan for full time employees, 403(b) retirement plan, paid holiday, sick time, and 17 days of paid vacation, pro-rated for positions less than 40 hours a week.
